FAQs
The Curbing Edge, LLC
Have a curbing-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!
Is the curbing sold in individual pieces?
No, our curbing is one continuous piece of concrete, poured on site.
What keeps the curbing from moving?
Not only is our curbing one continuous piece of concrete, it is also reinformed with a steel cable and dura-fibers.
Will the color of the curbing go away over time?
No, the color of the curbing is mixed throughout the concrete; however, the sealer will wear off over time. This is where an occasional reseal will keep your curbing more vibrant.
What type of maintenance is required?
We encourage a yearly reseal to keep your curbing vibrant for years to come. Not necessary, but it does keep your curbing looking brand new.
Is there anything I need to do before the curbing installation?
Plan on being present to do an initial and final walk through with our installation crew. Be prepared to point out sprinkler heads and low voltage wires. We will take care of the rest!
Can my job be too small?
We happily install decorative concrete curbing at properties of all sizes. We do have low minimums to ensure we can service all homes. Please call for pricing in your area.
Will my curbing crack?
Concrete naturally expands and contracts with Tennessee's changing temperatures. To manage this, we install fiber-reinforced concrete with expansion joints every 2.5 feet. These act as "planned stress points" to prevent random cracking. Additionally, we run a continuous steel cable through the entire length of your curbing. This provides "backbone" strength, ensuring that even as the ground shifts over time, your curbing stays perfectly aligned and in place.
When can I resume landscaping or yard work near my new curbing?
Please allow 48 hours for the sealer to cure before performing any yard work or landscaping near the new installation. While the concrete will continue to harden over the next month, it will be durable enough for "normal" yard activity after the first two days.
What happens if it rains after my curbing is installed?
Don’t worry! We monitor the local Nashville weather closely before every installation. Our high-quality sealer dries very quickly; we generally only need a two-hour window of dry weather after installation to ensure your curbing is protected. If we have any concerns about the forecast, we will communicate with you directly to reschedule for a clearer day.
When can I turn my irrigation system back on?
While our sealer is rain-resistant within two hours, we recommend waiting 24 hours before turning on automated irrigation systems. This ensures that consistent, direct water pressure doesn't affect the finish while it's still fresh.
